I get a bike today!!!!

I'm SO excited!!! I get a bike today....but I'm not quite sure if I'm going to ride it right off the bat....I may have to start by just walking it down QW...then, slowly graduate to riding it on sidewalks, then take to some side streets....maybe I'll be on the road by September. Maybe.

I also need a helmet and a light (I think)...it's seems that's what other bike riders have...is there anything else I'm forgetting?

  1. Roshan,

We should go bike equipment shopping. I need a helmet that fits better and a front light.

How is it? We should also go for a cruise somewhere non-traffic-y like the beach!

    Peace,

    Tom

  2. I don't hope you get run over at all.

  3. If you're going onto side streets and back roads, you may want a little bag you can attach beneath the seat so you can carry a tire patch kit. A small tire pump may be a good idea as well.

a bell. TO police require bells all the time, lights on the front and back at night, and helmuts only if you are under 18.

    good luck!!

  5. hmm...you definitely need a cute napsack - something that's easy to bike with like a backpack, but cute like a purse.

  6. 5 comments!! Woot!

Thanks everyone for the great advice! Especially from Al, Lisa and the anonymous commenter :)

TF - We can definitely hit the bike shops for gear...I'll text you ;)

Fel - I love you. Thanks for taking the sting away from that "other person's" comment.

Al - it totally didn't occur to me to have some sort of emerg. kit for the bike...really good idea!

Lisa - I'm all about the functional cuteness....thanks for posting your comment!

Anon - thanks for the tips re: TO cycling....I definitely want a bell and lights....not so keen on the helmet so it's good to know that it's not necessary :)

  7. Nope, you had better get a helmet, girlie. Bikers get hit by cars all the time, and helmets save lives. Your life is more important than your hair. Just ask Nick Debrey.

(I mean it!) (I love you!)
